Wayne William St. Martin, age 85, of Munising, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at UPHS – Marquette following an unexpected illness. He was born in Munising on September 26, 1939 to the late Bill and Dolly (Chartier) St. Martin. Wayne grew up in Munising and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1960. He entered the U.S. Coast Guard on October 26, 1960 and served on the USCGC Rockaway out of Staten Island, NY. Wayne was honorably discharged on October 9, 1964. He returned home and worked for the U.S. Forest Service on the fire tower at Buck Hill. Wayne worked at Timber Products before beginning employment at Kimberly Clark. He married Patsi Ann Lucier on June 3, 1967 and together raised their two sons. Wayne retired after thirty-eight years of employment at Kimberly Clark as the head finisher in 1999. During his retirement, he worked with Shaun at Flynn’s Flooring for many years. Wayne was a member of Sacred Heart Church and of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He loved being in the woods and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being with his grandchildren in the woods.
Wayne is survived by his wife of over fifty-eight years – Patsi St. Martin of Munising; sons – Gregory St. Martin of Combined Locks, WI and Terry (Shandy) St. Martin of Munising; and grandchildren – Abby St. Martin and Jordan St. Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Dolly, brother David St. Martin, sister Kitty Lucier, and parents-in-law – George and Eleanor Lucier.
Graveside services will be held in the Veterans Section of the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. where military honors will be rendered by the Alger County Veterans Honor Guard and committal prayers will be led by Father Michael Ocran.
