Willard R. Cox, age 74, of Chatham, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 as the result of a logging accident. He was born on June 7, 1941 in St. Ignace, Michigan to the late Ernest and Marvel (Page) Cox. Willard was an avid outdoorsman. He worked in the woods as a logger, and when he wasn't working, he could be found in the woods hunting or in the rivers fishing. Willard enjoyed the time he spent with family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children - Willard "Will" J. Cox of Kiva, Tim (Elizabeth) Cox of San Antonio, TX, Daronda (Dale) Knighton of Lake Charles, LA, and Tom (Michelle) Cox of Mosinee, WI; grandchildren - Jason, Lisa, Michael, Jordain, Josh, Breanna, Isabelle, Dominique, Noah, Isaiah, and Violet; great grandchildren - Riley, Cameron, and Ryder; sisters - Char (Pete) Shelafoe, Ceile "Skip" Parrodte, and Patty Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews to who he was known as uncle Tom and uncle Willy. Willard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ernest Cox, sister Betty (Dwight) Jacobs, and brother-in-law Larry "Pye" Parrodte.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Willard's funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
