William Marvin Somerville, Jr.

William “Bill” Marvin Somerville, Jr., age 74, of Shingleton, died peacefully in his sleep following a lengthy illness on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Munising on September 1, 1948 to the late William and Marjorie (Barnes) Somerville, Sr.,  Bill grew up in Shingleton and  went to school in Munising.  He married Beverly Hansen and they had a son, Ron.  Bill worked in the woods cutting trees for different sawmills.  He enjoyed playing cards with his family.

Bill is survived by his son – Ron Somerville of White Cloud, MI; sisters – Alice Long of Shingleton, Becky (Tom) Bockelmann of Bristol, IN, and Wanda Wellington of Shingleton; brother – John Somerville of Shingleton; sister-in-law – Pat Clark; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former wife and friend – Beverly Somerville.

He was preceded in death by is parents and siblings – Virginia “Jenny” (Frank) Cloft; Dennis Somerville, Katherine “Sissy” Slayton; and brothers-in-law – Eugene “Gene” Long and Darwin Wellington.

Private family services will be held.
