William Morgan Ramsey, Sr., age 81, of Munising, died at his home on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. He was born at home at the Sylvan Inn (Forest Inn) in Grand Island Township on August 24, 1940 to the late Merrill and Helen (Johnson) Ramsey. Bill grew up in Munising and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School. He married Karin Taube and together had two children. They lived in California in the 1960’s and returned to Munising where they opened the Dogpatch in 1966. Bill attended Northern Michigan University for two years. He was involved in the family businesses throughout his life. Bill enjoyed car shows, snowmobile shows, and snowmobile racing. He enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, loved riding snowmobiles, knew how to have fun, had great stories to tell, and Bill had friends from all walks of life. He truly loved the hospitality industry in our area and remained involved with the Dogpatch for the past fifty-five years. He never wanted to stop learning so he was constantly reading to keep up with what was happening in the world. Bill loved sports, especially basketball. He enjoyed doing what he enjoyed doing and usually did things on his own terms.
He is survived by his son – Bill Ramsey (Dana Boyak) of Munising; his daughter – (Krissy to Bill) Kris Tate (Mike Fedrizzi) of Negaunee; grandchildren – Mike Ramsey, Kelsey Wright, Paul Ramsey, Lauren Monroe, Mikel Cercone Riley, Nicholas Cercone, Kennedy Tate, Morgan Ramsey, and Denny Ramsey; and eight great grandchildren.
