Bridget Berg O’Boyle, age 56, of Marquette, died late Thursday evening, July 15, 2021 at her home under the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice of sudden onset of leukemia. She was born on August 24, 1964 and her life focused on God, family, friends, and work.
Family together time was important to Bridget. She had fond and loving memories of laughter and joy and even some tears while spending quality time together with her sisters Donna and Lisa. She loved that her parents had made it a priority to spend time together as a family traveling, hiking, and camping. She loved sister times spent together including very special excursions with Donna to Grand Island and Lisa to AuTrain, Sand Point, and Miner’s beaches. The love for nature instilled by her father and mother carried through her entire life and she could often be found reading a book while taking in sun on the beach or hiking the nature trails and boardwalks around both Munising and Marquette. Bridget also had fond memories of several trips to her mother’s hometown of New Orleans and many of the attractions visited. She had a particularly fond memory of the trip they took to Greenfield Village. Bridget enjoyed exploring the U.P. and loved it’s rugged beauty and clean air.
She loved both the Finnish and Yooper heritage that was hers through her dad. Also, the Louisiana family origins on her mother’s side.
Bridget had a strong work ethic and took great pride in her role as a dedicated RN over a 30 year career at Marquette General Hospital (currently Duke Life Point.) Besides her normal duties, Bridget sought to establish a good rapport with patients and their families.
Bridget was a loving and selfless daughter and sister. She took leaves of absence from work to provide end of life nursing care for both her father and her brother Greg. She also cared for her mother in times of need.
Bridget loved and was loved by many, including her love, Michael O’Boyle. She was grateful for the kindness, help and care provided by Erika Hefke her Nurse Practitioner who went above and beyond in caring for her. Bridget also wanted to acknowledge Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice and in particular Karla Brissett, RN, who provided excellent and compassionate care and to social worker and friend Lisa Marttila.
Bridget was preceded in death by her father Donald Jack Berg and brother Greg Berg. She is survived by her loving mother Ray Berg, sisters and lifetime companions and best friends, Donna Dupuis and Lisa Case. Also her many nieces and nephews who she found adorable and charming. In order of age…Jaci, Tiffany, Taylor, Zakk, Daycia, Savannah, Don, Lilly, Natalie, A.J., and Natasha.
Services will be held at a later date.
