Diane Rae Hoover, age 73, of Munising, died unexpectedly surrounded by family on Monday, February 27, 2023, at AdventHealth in Tampa, Florida. She was born in Munising, Michigan on January 1, 1950 to the late Urban “Tubby” and Irene (Beaudry) Trombly.

Diane co-owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store and eventually the Coast to Coast Hardware store in Munising for many years alongside Barry, her best friend and loving husband of 40 years who affectionately referred to her as “Pansy” though she was admired for her strength and perseverance.

Diane was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who was always there to listen and guide her flock.  She was intensely proud of her children and grandchildren and very immersed in their lives.  She relished witnessing and hearing about all of their various life events and extracurricular activities and was their staunchest supporter and greatest cheerleader.

Diane loved to gather with family and friends over coffee and a game of Euchre, Hand & Foot, or other card games.  She welcomed surprise pop-in visits and always had the coffee pot on.  She loved blueberry picking, camping with family, gardening, shopping, jigsaw and sudoku puzzling, reading and visiting with friends and family over bonfires.  She absolutely loved the breathtaking sunsets and the full moonlights that cast over Lake Milakokia during her many years of camping with family and friends there.

She was an incredible cook and an even better baker, but most would agree that raising her family was her greatest accomplishment.  She never missed an opportunity to tell us and show us how much she loved us all.  She is fondly known for giving head rubs to her grandchildren who would work hard to be first in line for the infamous sleep-inducing head rub.   She enjoyed spending a few months each year in Panama City Beach, FL with Barry, her sister Sharon and brother-in-law Pete, and visiting their family along the journey.

She is survived by her husband- Barry Hoover of Munising; children- Rachelle (Bob) Hannah of Wetmore, MI; Wayne (Stacy) Brock of Iron Mountain, MI; Scott (Laura) Brock of Kingsford, MI; Sheri (Alan) Quattrin, Jr. of Evans, GA; Kelly (José) Navarro of Lutz, FL; Kyle (Marge) Hoover of Hernando, FL; Robyn (Ed) Traywick of Bellbrook, OH; and Barry James Hoover of Jacksonville, FL; Eighteen grandchildren- Leslie, Brett, Josh, Denae, Nick, Kent, Samantha, Margrit, Alice, Katie, Bryan, Alex, Zachary, Philip, Matthew, Nathan, Sara, and Violet; one great grandchild- Derek; sister-Sharon Seaberg of Munising; brother-in-law- Lee Tannehill; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her parents Urban and Irene Trombly, brother Richard Trombly, sister Brenda Tannehill, granddaughter Bridget Brock, and brother-in-law – Pete Seaberg.
