Munising
Eve Killips-Holmden, age 68, of Munising and formerly of Lansing, died Friday, September 1, 2023 at Munising Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family and caring hospital staff. She was born on November 1, 1954 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the second of seven children to Robert and Phyllis (Bray) Killips, Sr. Eve’s family moved from the Soo to Lansing and then back to the UP in Munising. She graduated alongside her mother from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1972. She was then married and welcomed into her world her son David. Their small family was stationed in Germany and then multiple cities in the U.S. Eve started Holmes Road Infant and Toddler Center in her home in Lansing, and with the help of her sister-in-law Nan, they cared for, influenced, and loved countless children from 1992-2008. Eve enjoyed swimming, pontoon rides, and fishing at Grassy Lake. She was a talented baker and cake decorator. But no matter how good her desserts were, she could never be trusted with the garlic bread that she infamously burned. Holidays were special to Eve, she decorated for them all and could not go without multiple Christmas trees. Family was so important to Eve and loved all the time she could spend with them. She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Eve is survived by her son – David Holmden of St. Johns; grandkids – Phillip (Rose), Andrew, Aliya, and Jordan; great-grandkids – Lilly Rose and Shaylynn May; siblings – Robert Killips, Jr., Aileen (Robert) Livermore, Tom (Cindy), Jon (Nan), Tim, and Rod (Stephanie) Killips; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend – Pat Magyar. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Phyllis and sister-in-law Rose Killips.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
