Jo Ann Patricia (Laakso) Brisson

Jo Ann Patricia (Laakso)  Brisson, age 86, of Chatham/Marquette passed away on August 6, 2022 at her daughter’s home in L’Anse, MI with her family by her side.

She was born on August 5th to Ferdinand and Martha (nee Pelkki) Laakso. Jo Ann grew up in Eben Jct. and graduated from there in 1954.

Jo Ann married Ray Brisson in 1989.

She was a member of the Eben Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and everyone always commented on her good sense of humor and sisu.

Jo Ann is survived by her children: Lori (Mike) Connelly, Jamie Boesl, Dee Ann (Denny) Lundin, Lisa (John) Inch, Kristin (Jeff) Hemmila, 6 grandsons: Brandon (Amy) Boesl, Bailey and Dylan Inch, Luke, Isaac (Jewel), and Miles Hemmila, 4 great grandchildren: Allen (Paige) Boesl, Owen, Libby, and Aubrey Boesl,  3 stepdaughters: Elaine, Jean and Joan and step grandchildren – Jennifer and Ashley,  and other step grandchildren she never got to meet, 2 brothers Dennis (Sue) Laakso, and Duane (Gina) Laakso and step siblings along with several nieces and nephews and a loving host of Brothers and Sisters in Faith.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents Ferd and Rita (nee Hawley) and Martha, husband Ray, 3 precious children Renee, Jay, and Jody, brother Allen (Roberta) Laakso and sister/best friend Joyce (John) Laurich and one step daughter Vicki and one step granddaughter Jody.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Negaunee, MI on August 11th at 11 am until the 1 pm service. A luncheon will follow at the church hall with the committal following at 4:30 at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham.

We want to express our sincere appreciation to the UP-Health Systems - Portage Home Health Care and Hospice for making our mom comfortable during her final days.
