Marge Perron   1923-2019

In the heart of a wife, mother, and grandmother, lies the seeds of love, which are planted like flowers in the center of her family - nothing can take away such love.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” John 25-26

Marjorie A. Perron, age 96, of Munising, entered into the arms of her heavenly Father on December 19, 2019, at Medilodge of Munising, her children and her 101 year old sister by her side.

Marjorie was born to Eugene Castagne and Elva Benoit-McKay on November 8, 1923 in Keldon, Michigan. She was proud of her French heritage, her family being one of the first to settle in Keldon.

She graduated from Pickford High School in 1942. Marjorie worked at the Northwestern Tannery and the Ojibwa Hotel as a waitress. She married Romeo Perron on September 16, 1944 at St. Mary's Church in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. They were married for 42 years when God called Romeo home. They lived in the Sault and then moved to Munising where she had since resided. After moving to Munising, Marjorie took on the most important job a woman can have, that of being a full-time mother.

Marge was a homemaker, a faithful wife and a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She had the patience of a saint. She enjoyed spending time with. her family, cooking, baking, playing cards, dancing, crocheting and working in her yard with her flowers.

Marge was a born-again-spirit-filled Christian. She spent time with her Lord and Savior daily, praying and reading His word. She also had a deep devotion to Jesus' mother, Mary, and would pray her rosary daily. Marjorie had long list of people that she would pray for every day.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; The Lady Foresters; The Sacred Heart Guild, St. Bernadette Circle; The Children of the Living God Prayer Group; Women of the Moose; The American Legion Auxiliary; the Munising Senior Center; a volunteer for Hospice. She and Romeo were members of the local Dance Club and the mixed couple bowling league. She was also the Secretary for the Castle Rangers Drum and Bugle Corps of which her daughter, Christine was a member.

She will always be remembered for her and Romeo's 4th of July celebration get-togethers, with members of the extended Perron family, at their home on Superior Street and all the good food, cookies and bars that she served.  One 4th of July she served over 90 people.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband Romeo, son Roger, and grandson James Harrow Stephens; brothers, John and Joseph McKay and Eugene Castagne; sisters, Cecile Castagne and Melvina White.

She is survived by her sister, Lucille Kowalczak of Sault Ste. Marie; four children and daughter-in-law - Penny (Don) Stephens, Michael (Tunie) Perron, Christine (John) Ochman, Paula Perron all of Munising, and Janet Perron of Wetmore: eight grandchildren – Joseph (Kayla) Perron of Wetmore, Charissa (Tom) Benchina of Kalamazoo, Amy Stephens of Beverly Hills, CA, Michael Perron Jr. and Scott Perron of Munising, Elizabeth (Wyatt) Leutz of Gwinn; Mallory (Adam) Hemminger  and Paige (Troy) Anderson both of Williston, ND: thirteen great-grandchildren: Kenadie Perron, Cassidy and Logan Benchina, Calvin, Caitlin and Caden Perron, Levi and Leah Marjorie Leutz, Jared, Charlie, Bella and Romeo Hemminger, Paisley Anderson; and many nieces and nephew.
