AuTrain

Mary L. Gill, age 93, of AuTrain, died on Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2022 at Medilodge of Munising.  She was born on June 23, 1929 in Macomb, Illinois, the only child of Pete and Midge (Roley) Bainbridge.  Mary grew up in Macomb and graduated from high school there.  She married Bob L. Gill on September 12, 1948 and together raised their three children.  Mary was a homemaker and then went into the floral business and designed beautiful arrangements for over forty years.  When retirement time came, they moved to AuTrain Lake where they had vacationed for over thirty years.  As yearlong residents, Mary called herself the “Lady of Lake” and made friends with animals all year long.  She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and feeding the chipmunks and rabbits right out of her hand.  Mary continued her artistic talents with crafts throughout her life on the lake.  She loved to cook and excelled at the task.  No one ever left Mary’s table hungry, and if they did it was their own fault.  She loved hosting family over the 4th of July where she took great pride in serving her grandchildren vegetable soup and “oodles and oodles of Granny’s noodles.”  She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends at a local church.  Mary and Bob were married over fifty-one years when he preceded her in death on June 27, 2000.  Mary’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in heart.  She will be missed.

Mary is survived by her son – Scott Gill of Ajo, AZ; daughter and son-in-law – Laurie and Tim Pratsch of Crivitz, WI; grandchildren – Tim, Emily, Ann, Tara, and Tyler; great-grandchildren – Katherine, Tony, Joe, Max, Sam, Maya, Isaac, Amara, and Ellie; and she is also survived by many dear friends including Pat, Connie, and her “angel” Penny.   Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, daughter Malinda Dorway, and her grandson Nick. “THE WIND IS IN THE NORTH.”

No public services will be held.
