Richard "Dick" Joseph Heimerman

August 28, 1955 — November 1, 2019

Munising

Richard “Dick” Heimerman, age 64, of Munising, died on Friday, November 1, 2019, All Saints’ Day, at his home under the loving care of his family, friends, and North Woods Home Hospice.  He was born on August 28, 1955 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late R. Eugene and Alice (Ward) Heimerman.  Dick grew up in Neenah and at the age of eleven, his family, with a paper mill transfer, moved to Munising.  He graduated from Sacred Heart School.  As a Mustang, Dick was a three sport athlete, playing football, basketball, and on the golf team.  He was a member of the 1972 GLC championship basketball team.   Dick graduated with the Wm. G. Mather Class of 1973.  He attended Lake Superior State University and Northern Michigan University before briefly living on the west coast.  Dick returned to Munising and worked at CCI.  In May of 1976, he began employment at Kimberly Clark and worked in the Machine Room, Specialties Department, and as an Operations Coordinator.  Dick retired from Neenah Paper with over thirty-seven years of service on January 1, 2014.  Dick married Marcy (Denman) Prunick on December 6, 1986 and together they raised their family.  He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and was a historian of American History, the Civil War, WWI, and WWII.  Dick would oftentimes coordinate family vacations around the battlefields or historical sites.

He loved the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR, golf, and driving his boat.  Dick had a deep belly laugh that could bring about smiles wherever he shared it.  He was a helpful flower gardener to Marcy, a talented indoor painter, a musician, and a great cook of soup and “Dick’s famous” meatloaf.  Dick and Marcy enjoyed retirement winters in Ruskin, Florida and summer nights in their garage in Munising with friends.  Always a believer and spiritual man, Dick reconnected to his Catholic roots six years ago.  He and Marcy had their marriage blessed in the church on June 19, 2015 and were members of Sacred Heart Church in Munising and St. Anne’s in Ruskin, FL.  It was his beautiful and deep faith that has given his family and friends the greatest comfort of knowing they will someday see him again.

Dick is survived by his loving wife and best friend of over thirty-two years – Marcy Heimerman of Munising; children – Ame Prunick of Green Bay, WI, Joseph (Brittany Ewald) Prunick of Van Meer, and Haylee Heimerman of Munising; grandchildren – Lathan Richard, Jaxon, Curtis, Jordy, Ava, and Cora; sisters – Mary (Dick) Bowerman of Wetmore, Gail (Tim) Flynn of Milan, IL, and Karen (Tom) Summit of Rowley, MA; parents-in-law – Bob and Jean Denman of Munising; in-laws – Carol Denman, Jill Denman, Mike (Toni) Denman, Diane Howard, Raya (Bob) Hill, Jimmy Eiseman, and John Kroupa; Gramma Shirley Martindale; aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and dear friends.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Alice Heimerman, and his mother-in-law, Mary Agnes “Mickey” Denman.
