Robert “Bob” Soles, age 65, of Christmas, died unexpectedly Friday, April 17, 2020 at UP Health Systems Marquette.  He was born in Munising, Michigan on December 20, 1954 to the late Glen and Rhoda (Root) Soles.  Bob grew up in Munising and was a standout athlete in school.  He graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1974.  In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports, especially baseball.  Bob married Beth Anderson on October 4, 1975 and together they raised their two children.  He was a Mr. Fix-it, and never hesitated to help anyone who needed help.  Whether it was a small job, or fabricating a new part that is no longer made, Bob was willing to lend a hand.  He was hired at Kimberly-Clark on August 25, 1975 and started his career at the Munising Mill as a Utility Helper.  He did jobs such as Trucker, Roll Wrapper and Assistant Backtender during his career. He started his apprenticeship in the Maintenance Department in 1984, the job he held at Retirement.  Bob retired on May 1, 2012 from Neenah Paper after thirty-six years of service.  Bob considered his co-workers as family.  He cherished the many great friendships he found during his time at the mill.  Bob loved his grandchildren dearly.  He took great pride in being Dayne’s official/unofficial coach/umpire.  He never missed a game, and spent countless hours letting Dayne pitch to him in the yard, evident by the many dents in the garage door and maybe even a broken window.

Bob is survived by his wife of over forty-four years – Beth Soles of Christmas; children – Sheila Belanger of Christmas and Cody (Ashley) Soles of Boyne City, MI; grandchildren – Nicole Belanger, Dayne Soles, and Lucas Krill; brothers and sister-in-law – Bob St.Amour, Bill Mookhoek, and Sheryl Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents – Glen and Rhoda; sisters – Sharon Mookhoek and DeeDee St.Amour; in-laws – Willard and Janice Anderson; and brother-in-law – Tim Anderson.

No public services are planned at this time.
