Robert “Bob” H. Tongusi, age 80, of Munising, died early Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.  He was born on March 31, 1939 in Wetmore, Michigan to the late Robert S. and Nellie (Tyner) Tongusi.  Bob attended Sacred Heart School and Wm. G. Mather High School.  He entered into the United States Marine Corps in May of 1956.  Bob served as a wireman and was stationed in California, he was honorably discharged on April 3, 1959 as a lance corporal.  He also served in the National Guard out of Gladstone from 1983 until 1999.  He worked for many years at Timber Products as a veneer machine operator and retired in 2004.  Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his brother-in-law’s camp on Sister Lake.  He was a member of the American Legion and served on the Honor Guard.

Bob is survived by his sons – Robert M. Tongusi of West Bend, WI, Scott A. Tongusi of Rubicon, WI, and Tom W. Tongusi of Slinger, WI; grandchildren – Dylan Michael and Sara Louise Tongusi; siblings – Patricia McQuisten, John Tongusi, Mary Jean Humphry, Charles Tongusi, Shirley Johnson, Terry Tongusi, and Darlene (Steve) Richardson; brother-in-law – George Reimer; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Robert S. and Nellie; sister – Donna Reimer; brother – Joseph Tongusi; brothers-in-law – Floyd McQuisten, Dennis Humphrey, and Glenn Johnson.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Maple Grove Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Fr. Mike Ocran will conduct committal prayers and the American Legion and Vietnam Veteran Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
