Sandra Lee (Caldwell) Vieth

June 18, 1949 — September 2, 2019

Christmas

While carrying her cross of pancreatic cancer, Sandy was taken home and granted eternal peace with the Lord on September 2, 2019, under the loving care of her family and North Woods Home and Hospice Care. She was born, Sandra Lee Caldwell, on June 18, 1949 to David F. and Lucille B. Caldwell.

Sandy graduated from Peshtigo H.S. in 1967, but her real love was her three years at Ithaca H.S.in southern Wisconsin, where she and her husband recently attended her 50th class reunion. She was a cheerleader, majorette and played the flute in the school band.  Among others interests, she was a member of the Future Homemakers of America.  Sandy met Gary, the love of her life, while working at the A&W Root Beer Stand in Peshtigo where she remembered him wearing cut off white shorts and a hooded red sweatshirt. This was the beginning of a lifelong loving relationship of almost 50 years.  They were married on May 16,1970 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Sandy worked in the medical records department as a transcriptionist at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in LaJunta, CO, in the mid 70’s through early 80’s.  In LaJunta, she was a member of the Picketwire Players and enjoyed many theatrical performances.  Returning to the U.P. in January of 82, she was employed by the Munising Memorial Hospital as a Unit Clerk and then as the head of the Medical Records Department for many years.  A career in the medical field spanning close to 30 years.

Sandy loved her family and her church community. She looked forward to annual family get togethers at summer picnics and at Christmas celebrations. Special moments of joy she cherished with her immediate family, her sons Chad, Michael, her daughters and her grandchildren whom she nurtured and watched grow up to become fine young adults whom she was so very proud of. Christmas, birthdays and holidays, camping with family, traveling, summer vacation rentals and daily life on Carr Lake were her special times for laughter, joy and togetherness.

She had a passion and talent for creating art in many forms and medias; cross stitch, macramé and knitting were but a few. Sandy was a self-taught artist who enjoyed creating unique acrylic paintings on canvas and rocks in the shape of barns, flowers and woodland creatures that were a part of her life.  She was truly inspired by nature and the beauty of God’s handiwork.  Sandy enjoyed with her husband traveling to art fairs and sharing her art with others.  She continued her love for music playing her CD’s daily and through piano lessons, while her family enjoyed her piano in her home on Carr Lake. She enjoyed her friends in the Peter Jonas Community Band, while playing her flute for various community events and the 4th of July parade. She loved her home on Carr Lake which she eagerly enjoyed helping in its construction. The birds, her flower, the ducks, sand hill cranes, spring peepers, her blueberry patch and so many others brought her daily joy and inspiration. She loved traveling and camping in a tent with her husband and her boys when they were young and later with her husband in their trailer, visiting family and friends and many of the National Park and State Parks sites.

She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society Guild for many year participating in the Fall Bazaar, funeral luncheons especially her Month of February, the church cleaning schedule and many other activities.  Sandy loved the Lord and shared her time and talents in many ways as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, a CCD teacher, a permanent Eucharistic Adoration member, and the Radio Ministry for many years.

She was a devoted, patient, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister and an inspiration to all those who truly had the pleasure of knowing her.
