Sheila Doreen (Hay) Andrews

Sheila Doreen Andrews, age 81, of Rumely and former longtime Gaylord resident, died peacefully on Sunday evening, June 13, 2021 under the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law in Rumely.  Sheila was born on July 25, 1939 in London, Ontario to the late Tom and Bernice (Player) Hay.  She grew up in Canada and moved to Michigan when she married Allen J. Andrews on June 6, 1959.  Together, they raised their two children in Madison Heights and Sheila was a homemaker when her children were young.  In 1972, the family moved to Gaylord.   She later worked in the offices at Georgia Pacific until she retired.  Sheila had a passion for reading.  She spent most of her time reading a good book and cuddling with her pets.  Sheila also enjoyed the time she spent nightly FaceTiming on her iPad with her cousin.

Sheila is survived by her son – Allen Andrews of Gaylord; daughter and son-in-law – Doreen and Tom McKenna of Rumely; and her cousin – Wayne Player of London, Ontario.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be suggested to be made to either the Alger County Animal Shelter (PO Box 532, Munising, MI  49862) or the Otsego County Library (700 S. Otsego Ave., Gaylord, MI  49735.)
